Canada Hits a Triple at 2012 OBIE Awards

Toronto – May 3, 2012


Last evening the Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA), announced the 2012 OBIE Award winners.  Three Canadian agencies were among the recipients.  Winning an OBIE is one of the OOH advertising industry’s greatest honours and rightly so.  It recognizes excellence in what some believe is the medium that is the most difficult to create for.

Leo Burnett took home 3 OBIES in the International category for the ‘James Ready Fall Campaign’:  Gold in the Multi-Format and two Silvers in the Traditional Billboard and Street Furniture/Transit/Alternative campaigns. The innovative and irreverent campaign leveraged multiple OOH formats that provided discounts to consumers on everyday expenses from hair cuts to pets so that they could spend their savings on James Ready Beer.




Zulu Alpha Kilo took home Gold in the International – Multi-Format category for the ‘People for Good’ campaign.  This effort incorporated humorous copy in bold message styles that encouraged people to be kind to one another.




Agency59 received a Silver OBIE in the International – Multi-Format campaign for their work on the Gay Lea Foods, Nordica Cottage Cheese ‘Anything Goes’ campaign.  The creative effectively engaged consumers and illustrated the many foods that are great paired with cottage cheese.
