In 2010, Canadian workers spent an average of 65 minutes a day commuting to and from work. Over the past two decades, commute times have increased significantly resulting in a commute time that is the equivalent of 12 full days a year. Average commute times were the highest in the three largest metropolitan centres of Toronto (81 minutes), Montreal (76 minutes) and Vancouver (74 minutes).
82% of Canadian workers travelled to work by car while 12% took public transit. Commuters using public transit had the longest commute times spending over and hour and a half to get to and from work.
OOH provides many opportunities for marketers to interact and influence purchase decisions as they commute to and from work.
